DS8000 and DS6000 installation services

Today's high end DASD subsystems are state of the art, high performance systems that offer a variety of configurations and attachments to multiple host systems. Mainline's implementation services for DS8000 and DS6000 DASD are designed to work closely with customers to understand their options and take full advantage of these high performance disk servers. We work side by side with our customer to install and configure the disk servers based on their specific needs and give training to properly manage and maintain their new DASD. We provide consultation on appropriate methods for data migration and offer complete end-to-end migration services, our migration service can include non-disruptive migrations programs that provide little or no downtime to transition to the new DASD. In addition, we have installed several peer-to-peer disk configurations and offer our customers disaster recovery services that ease the complexity of architecting comprehensive remote copy configurations.

Mainline services to install DS6000 and DS8000 disk servers include:

  • Provide pre- installation planning and validation of hardware orders
  • Work closely with our customer to prepare installation worksheets, remote communication, and assist in addressing the environmental requirements of the new disk.
  • Work onsite side-by-side with storage administrators and system programmers to install license keys and define the arrays and logical volumes needed for attachment to host systems.
  • Provide necessary host system upgrade information and maintenance procedures that are required to prepare host systems for connection to the new DASD.
  • Give detailed training and skills transfer so customers can properly configure and maintain their DASD servers.
  • Consult in and/or provide end-to-end migration services to relocate data to the new storage
  • Offer peer-to-peer architecture and installation services and disaster recovery preparation and procedures.
