Data Center Relocation
A large mutual fund and financial advisory in the Northeastern U.S. had completed construction on its hot backup site approximately 50 miles away from its primary production site and was ready to relocate their data center. This company provides its customers with 7 days a week/24 hours day availability so downtime was not an option. Given roughly 18 hours over a holiday weekend to complete this move which also involved multiple hardware and software vendors, Mainline provide consultative review of the migration plan, coordinated the activities and sequencing of the manufacturer's technical support at both the production and back up sites. Mainline was also responsible for the contracting of moving company and planning for the loads for the multiple trucks involved.
IT Project Planning
A international cruise line needed to prepare their internal IT project team for a major project to consolidate their Midrange environment, as well as prepare a detailed storage plan and Disaster Recovery strategy. Starting from scratch, they needed to communicate the big picture to a larger internal team as well as provide tactical details and milestones to secure their final budget. Mainline Systems Architects developed an IT strategy roadmap that included: a high level executive presentation; detailed timelines and milestones for project implementation, a view of the current state to end state results of the Midrange consolidation; an detailed spreadsheet of the involved applications; a detailed storage plan by Tier (high speed, XIV, SVC), a detailed back-up strategy plan that included local and remote backup as well as a detailed Disaster recovery strategy plan.
Website refresh and Data Center update
A wholesale plastics company located in the Southeastern U.S. needed a refresh of their customer website including update graphics, enhanced content and improved navigation. They also wanted to complete a data center update and move. Mainline services worked with the company on improving their website design, while at the same time conducting three dry runs on the data move as well as providing consideration and contingencies plans to address potential adversities resulting from weather or man-made errors. The move was made within the allotted timeframe and systems were fully operational and in normal production cycles. No disruption of service with greater productivity and redundancy within the infrastructure.
