Big Bend youth receive technology boost from local IT firm

February 17, 2015 – Tallahassee, FL – Children’s Home Society of Florida received sixty laptops from Mainline Information Systems, Inc. to help vulnerable teens in the Big Bend area learn needed software and technology skills. The donation will allow teens and young adults age 14 – 21 to learn the software skills needed to apply for jobs and study for school through programs run by Children’s Home Society of Florida.

“Making investments in our children by ensuring they have access to computers for learning and exploration is essential in today’s society”, says Joe Elebash, Chief Financial Officer for Mainline Information Systems, Inc. “We are excited to help inspire the next generation to thrive and grow with technology.”

According to studies by the U.S. Census Bureau, just over half of the poorest households in the U.S. own a computer, and less than half have Internet access, creating a technology gap for youth who lack the access needed to stay on pace with peers. Donations and partnerships from companies such as Mainline Information Systems, Inc. provide the technology support to help youth and young adults served by Children’s Home Society of Florida grow up prepared for life in a globally-connected and technology-driven world.

Each year, Children’s Home Society of Florida helps nearly 4,200 children and family members in the Big Bend area and is dedicated to protecting children, strengthening families and transforming communities.
